Aliph, the makers of the well-known Jawbone bluetooth headset are always looking for ways to improve their product. When a Jawbone Representative last came to our store she had a surprise gift with her.

The New Fit Earbuds are currently undergoing a “Beta Test”. Our rep essentially wanted us to try out the earbuds on Jawbone headsets and submit feedback. At first glance it seems that these buds are solely made to work with the Jawbone 2 Bluetooth Headset. They, do in fact fit on my original Jawbone however, the fit is more secure on the Jawbone 2. After using these earbuds for two weeks I have to commend Aliph/Jawbone for creating such an amazing product.

These earbuds are incredibly comfortable. I forget that I even have the headset lodged in my img_0085-150x150 ear. Many people complained about the hook system of the original Jawbone. With the New Fit Earbuds I am able to take the ear hook out completely and achieve both maximum fit and comfort. Before obtaining these earbuds I only used my Jawbone when it was absolutely necessary. Now, it is always in my ear.

Keep an eye out for an announcement on these earbuds in the next few months. They should be available to the public soon.

I have evaluated all 3 sizes of the beta New Fit Earbud with unsuccessful results. The basic problem with the Jawbone has not been addressed by this latest idea from the manufacturer. The only way I can hear while driving is to apply constant pressure to the Jawbone with my finger to keep it seated in my ear canal. Often this results in hanging up the call, since there is no easy way to push the Jawbone into the ear without pressing the on/off switch. The Jawbone is like a see saw – when you push it into the ear it turns off the Jawbone and/or moves the Voice Activity Sensor away from your face. When you push the bottom of the Jawbone against your face to make contact with the Voice Activity Sensor, it pulls the Jawbone out of your ear. This is not a well designed product for people who use it in a car or in other mobile environments with background noise.
