Betanews is reporting that Microsoft is finding itself in hot water after it was revealed that the company offered to pay an Australian blogger to correct information on Wikipedia regarding its Office Open XML standard.

The company said it spotted several inaccuracies in articles on the standard, and decided against editing them on its own.

I am not sure what the big deal is. Outsourcing is the American way after all. It is not as if they were paying him take a favorable position on a product. We all know that never happens in the Blogging community.

Hey, if they want, I’ll do it for one of those free notebooks running Vista!
